We're coping with a far-too-serious start in the 2012 box office. The 1st three-and-a-half months of year have already been dominated by weepy Watch 21 Jump Street Online dramas ("The Vow"), kid-friendly animated fare ("The Lorax"), middling horror flicks ("The Devil Inside") and flicks which will have kept geek flags round the country flying high but instead could barely inspire a gust of nerdy enthusiasm ("John Carter," "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance").
